The Button Box carries accordions from many makers, such as Hohner, Castagnari, Saltarelle, Serenellini, and Weltmeister. Although here in the United States the button accordion has often been thought of as the "poor cousin" to the more well-known piano accordion, it has always been a very popular type of accordion in the rest of the world. Often called the "button box", "squeezebox", or "melodeon", it is the direct descendant of the original accordions first developed in the early 19^th century; each treble button gives a different note on the push and pull and follows a major scale pattern.

Hohner is the world's leader when it comes to button accordions, and the standard by which all other instruments are judged. Saltarelle offers a full line of fine handcrafted button accordions. Available with either flat or stepped keyboards, they have widespread popularity, particularly in Ireland and England.
