The Button Box stocks accordion and concertina microphones from Microvox, a small company in the United Kingdom specializing in mic systems for acoustic instruments. We also carry Microvox microphones for other instruments, including violin, viola, flute, whistle, bodhran, guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, brasses, and banjo. Microvox provides a three-year warranty on their products. Microvox microphones use electret condenser mic elements. All are studio quality or better. Accordion and concertina microphones attachto the instrument with strips of Velcro, making installation simple and reversible, allowing for easy transfer of mics from one instrument to another, and providing some insulation from mechanical noise. The accordion treble microphone is a long bar with 3 or 4 microphone elements. Many players choose to mic the bass side of the accordion as well. Microvox makes two series for accordions: the M420/M410/M405 series, which requires a power supply unit; and the M305/M310 series, which is powered by an AA battery. |
