Beginner
Intermediate
Advanced
Beginner: People who have a handle on the main notes of the instrument, have some knowledge of note names, and can find their way around a few tunes (at a slow tempo is okay).

Intermediate: People who can play in a few keys and meters (reels, jigs, etc.), have a fair sense of rhythm, and can play at a moderate pace.

Advanced: People who can play with fluency in several keys, modes and meters, have a good understanding of the layout of the instrument, and can play at tempo.

Learning tunes in phrases. Starting with simple tunes, we will explore techniques for visualizing phrases in the form of hand shapes.

Tunes: Shoes and Stockings, Old Molly Hare, Lady of the Lake.
Period 2
1:30 - 3:00
Intermediate
Stylistic techniques of double stops, triplets and counterpoint as ornementation for American fiddle tunes.

Tunes: Shady Grove, Granny, Sally Ann Johnson, 28th of January.
Period 3
3:30 - 5:00
Intermediate
Principles of harmonic arrangements of fiddle tunes through counterpoint and chords.

Tunes: Rock the Cradle Joe, Rose Division.

The Fine Print:

Registration: Please note that meals and overnight lodging are NOT included in registration.

Cancellations: Cancellations before February 24th will receive a refund, less $10. Cancellations received after February 24th will receive a refund, less $20.
